LINC Phoenix

On June 24th, 2010, W.net held its Phoenix LINC Summer Event at the Ritz Carlton on Camelback Road. The event was sponsored by local payments companies TSYS Acquiring, Impact Payments Recruiting, Apriva, and BillingTree, with just under 30 payments professionals attending.

The cocktail-hour LINC was coordinated by Holly Merrill, Product Development Director at BillingTree, and Liz Pike, Impact Payments Recruiting's Director of Merchant Services. Many W.net members hadn't seen each other since the W.net Super LINC event at the ETA in April, and the evening provided an opportunity to catch up on personal and professional developments.

Pat Newquist, Image Consultant and founder of Wardrobe Image, provided a highly entertaining presentation on how clothes, posture, speech and accessories create an image that sends a message to everyone. Newquist brought up a volunteer from the audience and demonstrated what can be done to alter clothing to provide a more professional image, including fit, length and type of fabric. Newquist also shared a vast array of tips on appropriate professional dress for the work place while keeping in compliance with the company's dress code. She also emphasized the importance of mentoring women, not only in the industry, but in how they present themselves. "If you are a professional, established women, it is your responsibility to mentor the less experienced women in your company. If they are failing in their image, you are failing as a manager."

This topic sparked multiple conversations and lots of laughs. After the presentation, Patty Bengtson spoke briefly on the importance of being active in W.net, and many members volunteered to assist in the next event.
